ESOL project coordinator

Learn English in Merton

MHTS have been awarded a contract by Merton Adult Learning with the purpose of managing a single contact point for Merton residents seeking ESOL provision. The project will be called Learn English in Merton and it will provide a centralised ESOL assessment, referral and course matching service across the Borough of Merton. We will also coordinate the local ESOL offer, providing a single access website, as well as a networking and capacity building forum for local providers.
We are recruiting an experienced ESOL project coordinator who will be pivotal in setting up and delivering this project. The ideal candidate will have ESOL teaching and assessment experience, as well as strong project management skills.

The role will entail:

  • setting up and running ESOL information and assessment sessions across the borough; registering and assessing new ESOL learners who wish to access English language classes and referring them to suitable provision.
  • liaising closely with local providers, maintaining a thorough referral system, and following up with learners and providers to ensure learners are effectively enrolled in suitable courses.
  • contributing actively to establish a forum for local providers and running related activities;
  • working effectively with the director to meet KPIs and targets.

Salary

£28,000 pa (0.6 pro rata FTE)

Contract

Fixed term, initially for 1 year with possibility of extension up to 3 years in total, subject to funding and performance

Digital skills for ESOL speakers

We are recruiting for a teacher of digital inclusion to join our pool of sessional teachers. The digital inclusion teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and inclusive basic digital skills courses to non-native English speakers in community settings; to facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides learners with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential; and to contribute, in doing so, to MHTS’s overarching goals.

Based at

Vestry Hall, Unit 18, 336-338 London Road, Mitcham, CR4 3UD with travel across the borough as required.

Salary

£20 per teaching hour.
